Kostanski Funeral Homes of Greenfield and Turners Falls is a third generation family business. In 1952, founders Henry A. and Irene R. (Czuj) Kostanski opened the Kostanski Funeral Home at 220 Federal Street, Greenfield (its current location). In 1953, together with Henry’s brother Walter T. Kostanski, Jr., they established the funeral home at 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls (its present location).
Once the original founders retired, ownership was transferred to Henry and Irene’s children; Mike Kostanski, Bill Kostanski and Karen Larabee.
Their granddaughter, Britney Kostanski Gioules joined the firm in 2005, becoming a licensed funeral director in 2013 and beginnning the 3rd generation of funeral service for the Kostanski Family.
In 2014, after over 25 years of dedicated service, Michael Kostanski retired. Kostanski Funeral Home is currently owned and operated by Bill Kostanski, Karen Larabee and Bill's daughter, Britney K. Gioules.
The caring and professionalism instilled by Henry and Irene for over 65 years still continues as the Kostanski tradition and serves all faiths throughout the area from both locations. They are members of the New England Funeral Trust and specialize in pre-arranged funerals.
