Welcome to the memorial page for

Robert "Hyno" Hoynoski

August 10, 2017

Turners Falls- Robert “Hyno” Hoynoski, 68, of 24 Park Street died Thursday 8/10/17 at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.  He was born on August 27, 1948, the son of Marcel and Helen (Zachlowski) Hoynoski.  Bob attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1967.

Hyno was an operator at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Montague for over thirty two years, before his retirement. He worked as a Reserve Police Officer for the Town of Montague for many years.

Hyno loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and liked an occasional trip to the casino. He was always looking for the elusive buck on his famous rides.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and encouraged them in all their endeavors. The best times were spent around the campfire with Jadgey.

Hyno was quick to come up with a joke for any occasion and kept everyone laughing with his one-liner’s. He was extremely outgoing and would talk to everyone he met, often surprising his grandchildren with his gift of gab with complete strangers. He made many close friends along the way.

He was a past member of the Greenfield Lodge of Elks and Sacred Heart Church.

Besides his wife and best friend of (49 years) Barbara (Pietraszek) Hoynoski, Bob leaves two sons, Jeffrey and his wife Seana of Turners Falls and Chris and his wife Kim of Shelburne Falls; two sisters, Marcy and Barbara of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Jamie and Seth Hoynoski of Shelburne Falls and Abby and Sam Hoynoski of Turners Falls; and a nephew, TJ Meyer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 8/16 at 9:15am from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Holy Trinity Church with the Rev. Timothy Campoli officiating.  Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Greenfield.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 5-7pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
