Welcome to the memorial page for

Annette (Boudreau) Canuel

November 5, 1938 ~ April 18, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

South Deerfield – Annette L. Canuel went home to heaven to join her beloved Leo on April 18, 2017 at home, surrounded by her adoring children. She was born on November 5, 1938 in Providence Rhode Island. The daughter of the late Wilfred J. Boudreau and Theresa (Lebeau) Boudreau.  She lived in Greenfield most of her adult life.

A graduate of St. Patrick's high school in Providence Rhode Island Class of 1957, she was class treasurer and excelled in many business classes becoming the assistant tax collector in Smithfield Rhode Island upon graduation.  She married Leo in 1958 and they had four children.  For most of her life she devoted herself to staying at home and raise their children, being there every day when they got home from school.

Annette ran a successful at home business called “Craft -N - Ceramics”. She designed and created the most unique (pierced cut) lampshades and owned “Create-A-Book” selling personalized books at many local craft fairs.

Along with her many crafts and hobbies, nothing brought her more joy than studying genealogy and researching about the history of Boudreau and Canuel families. She was blessed to be able to spend many winters in Hobe Sound, Florida, where she joined the Red Hat Society, helped organize spaghetti suppers and enjoyed walking and “shelling” on the beach. We are now so blessed to have the items she created with her shells.

She dedicated much of her time to Blessed Sacrament Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister, she decorated the church for many holidays and sang in the choir.  She volunteered at the adoration chapel, the hat and mitten trees and made many mini lap robes for area nursing homes.  She participated in the Parish Life Committee, organized the Padre Pio prayer group and so many other church activities. Annette received a distinguished honor from the House of Representatives in recognition of her work as a volunteer for many years at Poet Seat nursing home. Annette also twice made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, once being blessed by the Pope in Rome.

Annette was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years Leo A Canuel in 2015. She leaves her adoring family, two sons, Joseph Canuel and spouse Kim of Greenfield, Robert Canuel of Charlemont, Jaime Williams and spouse Bruce of Myersville. MD. and Cheryl Canuel of Turners Falls. Near and dear to her heart were her nine grandchildren, who loved their "Meme", Kristin and her fiancé Chris, Jessica and her spouse Ryan, Nichole and her spouse Garrett, Kayla, Teresa and her spouse Tim, Bryan, Racheal, Courtney and her fiancé Ryan and Alyssa. She absolutely loved her Nieces and Nephews who fondly called her “Ma Tante” and eight beloved great-grandchildren with another due in June. A special thank you to her beloved Chara.

Unknown to many, Annette was a doctor, well, not really a doctor, but to her grandchildren she always knew all about “Boo Boos.” She also spent many nights as the “Big Mamma” on WFFA.
