We had the pleasure of being Stella's neighbor for about 10 years and Aunt Blanchie was Stella's neighbor from 1962 to 2001! Stella was such a kind, friendly and helpful neighbor who tolerated our barking dogs and other neighborly challenges! She could frequently been seen out in the yard diligently working on her projects and wheeling her barrel to the community gully at the end of Carol Lane. She loved to share the neighborhood history - and she was such a big part of it - starting on Holland Avenue in 1948 before moving to the newly built house on Carol Lane in the early 1950s. She saw it all and we were honored to be among her last neighbors. We were also humbled to be invited to her 90th birthday party - she was so admired and liked by all who knew her. We know that she was a woman of Faith - willing to drive to Holy Trinity Parish in a snow storm to attend Mass! - so we know that she is safely home now and we are comforted with that blessing.
