Wendy J. Baker

Wendy J. Baker, 76, died unexpectedly Friday 3/31/23 at home. She was born in Greenfield on November 10, 1946, the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Patterson) Baker. 
Wendy loved to dance! Her recent social circles took her to the places she loved like Baker’s Store, The Conway Inn, Terrazza, & The Hitchcock. Conway held her heart having grown up on the family farm & being active on the fire department & women’s auxiliary. In her younger days Wendy loved fast cars & snowmobiles. She was also one hell of a softball player for over 30 years. 
Wendy loved her family and friends deeply. She was “mom” to many including most of her friends. Her grandkids Evelyn, Olive, & Maizie were everything to her. She loved her low-key life that was void of any form of modern technology. To Wendy her world was big because her world was small. She will be dearly missed but she will always be dancing on in our memories.
Among her survivors, Wendy leaves a daughter, Angela Varilly and her husband Christopher of Turners Falls; a son, Tracy Barber of Westminster, MA; three granddaughters, Evelyn, Olive and Maize; three brothers, Bruce Baker and his wife Linda of Greenfield; H. Douglas Baker and his wife Linda of Conway and Robert G. Baker and his wife Helen of Conway; three nieces; three nephews; and numerous cousins.
Calling hours will be held Saturday 4/22 from 10am-12noon at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. Burial will follow at 1pm at Howland Cemetery in Conway. 
A celebration of Life will follow the burial at 2pm at the Conway Fire House.
