Theresa C. (LaBelle) Saharceski Obituary
Theresa C. Saharceski, 93, of Erving, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2026, following a sixteen-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Buckland on June 18, 1932, the daughter of Edmond and Grace (Samson) LaBelle. Theresa attended local schools and graduated from Arms Academy. She went on to complete her nursing training at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, graduating as an RN in 1953 alongside her best friend of 75 years, Ruth Viens.
Theresa devoted most of her nursing career to caring for patients at Farren Memorial Hospital. After the hospital closed, she continued her life's work at a local nursing home in Greenfield, where she found special comfort in caring for others, including her own mother, during the final months of her life.
A devoted parishioner and communicant of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Turners Falls, Theresa maintained her faith as an important part of her life.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed marathon shopping trips with her daughter, Tracy, and her dear friend Ruthie. She also loved to travel and cherished numerous family adventures throughout the country.
To her family, Theresa was the trusted source for compassionate medical advice and support. Whenever a loved one faced a medical challenge, she was there without hesitation, offering guidance, reassurance, and care. If anyone needed her, she was always ready to help.
Above all else, Theresa's greatest joy was caring for the people she loved. Whether as a nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, or friend, she devoted her life to serving others with compassion, generosity, and unwavering love.
Theresa is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Erik Semb, with whom she resided and who lovingly cared for her during the last three and a half years of her life; her bonus granddaughter, Kimberlyn Semb; her brothers, Paul LaBelle and Franklin LaBelle, and their families; several nieces and nephews; and her devoted PCA, Amber, whom the family lovingly referred to as her "angel on Earth."
She also leaves behind other cherished members of her care team, including Lisa, Natashia, Christa, and the entire Hospice team, who cared for and loved her in the most beautiful ways.
In addition to her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Michael; her son, Steven; and her brothers, Edmond Jr., John, and Winston.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, beginning at 9:15 a.m. at Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, with Rev.
