Shirley Lashier Obituary

Shirley Ann (Walsh) LaShier passed away on November 27, 2023 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility with her family by her side.  She was born in Greenfield on January 31, 1936, the daughter of Clifford and Lena Walsh.  She attended school in Greenfield, graduating from high school in 1954.  Shirley worked after school at Sigda Flower Shop. After graduation, she worked at the Grand Union Supermarket as a cashier from 1955 to 1958.
Shirley was married to Donald LaShier on April 12, 1958 and they raised three sons over the next several years.  In 1971, they took over ownership of Art’s Tire Service, Inc. along with Don’s brother Dennis and his wife Carolyn.  After a successful run of nearly thirty years, they sold the business in 2000.
Shirley was active in the Greenfield Garden Club and the Lionettes (Lions) Club of Greenfield.  She enjoyed candlepin bowling and was an active ballroom dancer for many years.  She loved flower gardening, but left the weeding to her husband.  They spent many years camping while the boys were growing up and, later on, took trips to St. Maarten, Kawaii, Cancun, Bahamas and Bermuda.  Both the Red Sox and Patriots were her sports interests.
Shirley was predeceased by her brother, Charles Walsh, and two sisters, Merry Lombard and Judith Reipold.
Besides her beloved husband of sixty five years, Donald, Shirley leaves her sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) LaShier of Northfield, David (Maki) LaShier of Honolulu and Scott (Suzanne) LaShier of Turners Falls; grandchildren, Brittney of Shapleigh, ME, Cassandra of Bradford, NH and Sophie of Honolulu. Shirley also leaves her sister, Patricia Ozdarski.
A memorial service will be held Friday 12/8 at 11am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
