Sheliah F. Moran

Sheliah F. Moran, 94, passed away at Baystate Franklin Medical Center on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, after a brief illness.  Daughter of Thomas and Catherine (Kelley) Moran, she was a member of one of the first Irish families to settle in Amherst and form the foundation for what is now St. Brigid’s Parish.  At St. Brigid’s, Sheliah would become a member of both the choir and the religious education staff.  
A graduate of Amherst High School, she went onto a career with the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company.  As an adult, she became an avid lover of both poetry and art, and she maintained a steadfast Catholic faith throughout her life.
Sheliah was predeceased by her brother, Thomas “Tucker” Moran of Belchertown, and her sister, Eleanor Evans of Sunderland.  
She leaves behind her devoted niece Mary Beth Evans of Greenfield, her nephew Peter Evans (and wife Cindy and grandnephews Liam and Aidan) of West Hartford, Connecticut, and her nephew Thomas “Darby” Moran (and his mother, her sister-in-law Margot) of Belchertown, along with many cousins and friends throughout the country.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, with a burial to follow at St. Brigid’s Cemetery in Hadley.
