Sandra Ann (Sears) Weller, 77, of Montague Street passed away early in the morning of Tuesday, June 22nd at home with her family by her side. She was born on June 7, 1944 in Montague as the daughter of William and Beatrice (Murley) Sears. Sandra “Sandy” graduated from Greenfield High School Class of 1962. She went on to Greenfield Community College to receive her degree in Business Administration in 1964. Sandra worked as an executive assistant at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, TX. She then became the executive assistant for the Director of the Northfield School for Girls. Sandra established and ran Toddle Inn Daycare for countless children, before finishing her career as a paraprofessional at the Gill-Montague Regional High School working within the special education.
Sandra “Sandy” was an artist who enjoyed painting, quilting, and gardening. She taught tole painting as part of the Adult Education Program at the Gill-Montague School for several years. She also enjoyed fishing with her brother and grandchildren, traveling to New York City, Washington, DC, Hawaii and throughout Europe, and spending time with all her family and friends. She especially loved spending time at the beach in Pine Point, Maine where she spent her honeymoon and spent every summer thereafter with her family and friends.
She was a consummate participant and respected leader at the Our Lady of Peace Church, where she was head of the Alter Society, a lecture and eucharistic minister, a parish counselor, a member of the Our Lady of Peace Woman’s Group and worked closely with Fr. Aksamit and the Our Lady of Peace Decoration Committee.
Sandra leaves her husband of 48 years, George Weller, her daughters: Shawnmarie Maryrand-Chung (husband, Dutch Chung), Michelle Welles (partner, Peter O’Keefe) and Meagan Boissonneault (husband, Jarod Boissonneault) -- and leaves behind her six grandchildren: Hannah Welles, Ethan Chung, Avery Boissonneault, Ella Boissonneault, Aidan Chung and Coen Boissonneault. She also leaves behind her siblings: Carol Lafleur (husband, Ernest Lafleur) and Bryan Sears (wife, Peggy Sears). Sandra was predeceased by her parents and her brother William Sears, Jr.
Calling hours will be on Monday, June 28th at 9:30-11:30AM at Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square in Turners Falls, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12PM at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh St., with Reverend Stanley Aksamit pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Gill. Sandra will be buried adjacent to her parents in the family plot.
