Sandra E. (Capen) LaPlante

Sandra E. LaPlante, age 80, passed October 16, 2023.  She was born in Amherst, MA on September 18,1943 to Edward and Victoria (Pratt) Capen. She was the middle child out of 5 siblings. 
She grew up in Lake Pleasant and Turners Falls, MA. She went to school in Turners Falls and graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1963. After graduation, she worked miscellaneous jobs. 
She started a family and got her a job that would carry her to retirement at the Franklin Baystate Medical Center where she retired after 31 years of service as a housekeeper. 
Sandra enjoyed reading; she would read 10-12 books a week.  She loved sewing and crocheting and above all else being with her family.
Sandra was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother Edward and sister Catherine.  
She is survived by her children Melissa, Scott, and David; her friend and companion of 34 years Benjamin LaPlante; sisters Roxanne and Joan; grandchildren, Stephanie, Emily, Keon, Tatiyana, Emma, and Lydia.  She also leaves behind her best friend of over 50 years, Mary Poirier.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 10/19/23 at 10am at the Kostanski Funeral Home 1 Kostanski Sq., Turners Falls.  Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Millers Falls.
A calling hour will be held Thursday morning at 9am until the time of the service.
