Samuel “Sam” Michael Conley, 67, of High Street died Sunday December 15, 2024 at home.  He was born in Greenfield on October 3, 1957, the son of Frederick L. and Justine M. (Hunt) Conley. 

Sam attended Greenfield Public Schools and was a graduate of Greenfield High School. 

Sam was a skilled tradesman holding a variety of jobs over the years; ranging from working  the oil rigs in Texas to maintaining the power plant at the canal in Turners Falls and a variety in between.

He loved being in the woods or in the outdoors in general, whether it be boating or camping.    The thing that brought Sam the most joy was his grandchildren. He often marveled (bragged) about the girls navigating today’s world and the boys development and love of outdoors.  He enjoyed teaching them things like making apple cider and sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with them.

Among his survivors, Sam leaves his daughter, Samantha Loch of Walpole, NH; his son, Ollis Conley (Nieka) of Winchester, NH; five grandchildren, Luna and Liv Loch and Owen, Everett and Noah Conley; siblings, Cathleen Greenleaf (Robert) of Turners Falls, MA, Christopher Conley (Lucy) of South Hadley, MA and Susan Conley (Carol Buker) of Shelburne Falls, MA, a half-brother Donald Kemp of Canterbury, CT as well as several nieces and nephews.    

Besides his parents, Mike was predeceased by two brothers, John F. Conley in 2005 and Frederick L. Conley II in 2007.

A memorial service will be held Saturday January 4 at 10am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield.  Burial will follow at Green River Cemetery in Greenfield.

There will be no calling hours.
