Roy Pitchford Obituary

Roy Pitchford, 79, of River Road passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at his home. He was born
in England on July 10, 1941, the son of John and Nellie Pitchford. He graduated from Milton School and was
distinguished as a House Prefect and a soccer team captain.
Roy was a Ceramics Engineer graduating from Staff’s College. He married Glennis Lewis in 1963 and had two
daughters, Julie and Amanda. In 1973 his family emigrated when he was recruited as a British Clay Master to the
Carborundum Museum in Niagara Falls. Later he became the Plant Manager of Bennington Potters in Vermont
among other management positions he held in Canada and the US. Roy and his family finally settled down on
Cape Cod, Ma. in the early 80s where he became the Director of Operations at Craigville Conference Center.
Throughout his life, Roy was a creative and brave soul, traveling extensively, making friends along the way,
always ready with a joke and a smile. He was a hard working family man, generous with his time and abilities as
a supportive father and adoring grandfather. In retirement, he spent his afternoons is the garden tending his
Peace roses and Red English rose bushes, remaining charismatic & jovial with friends and strangers alike.
Among his survivors are his two daughters, Julie Lincoln of W. Wareham and Amanda Pitchford of Gill, Ma.; his
four grandchildren, Jasmine, Kyle, Arianna Lincoln and Anna Kapusta; two great grandchildren, Caleb and Leela;
three siblings, Ken, Brian and Alma, along with many extended family members in England.
We say farewell with much grief, knowing he will be dearly missed. But also that we will see him again, one day
in Heaven as he came to trust in Jesus’s saving grace in his final days.
Memorial Service will be held early in 2021 on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142,
Memphis, TN 38148.
