Robert "Banjo" Sicard Obituary

Robert L.”Banjo” Sicard, 91, of 6 Davis Street, Turners Falls, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Elaine Center in Hadley, MA.  Bob was born on March 5, 1927 to Joseph and Susan (Murley) Sicard.

He is survived by his daughter, Diane Sicard, his grandson/son Joseph Sulda, and 2 great- grandchildren, Madilyn and Luke Sulda.  He is also survived by his half-brother, Terry Sicard, and his God-daughter Sandra Sicard Shepard, and several nieces and nephews including Jamie Sicard of South Carolina. Robert was predeceased by four of his children.

Robert was a World War II Navy veteran and served on the USS Edsel, a destroyer.  After the War, he met and married the love of his life, Pauline Sicard, who recently predeceased him.

Robert was an active member of the Greenfield Country Club for over 55 years.  He loved golf and always referred to it as his coping skill and playground.  He would play golf up until the first snowfall.

Dad loved people and was a social history buff.  He could tell you stories in a way that would make anyone engage in them.  He was a character and persevered much sadness throughout his life.

Robert worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and was a civil engineer, yet he loved surveying the most, due to working outdoors.

The family would like to thank Sandy and Butch Shepard, Bob Avery, Terry Capucci and Mike Sevene

for their continued loyalty, friendship and love shown during my father's illness.

We would also like to thank the Elaine Center of Hadley for their loving and caring ways.  Sharon, thank you.
