Robert J. Martin Obituary

Robert J. Martin, 72, of Canal St. passed away Wednesday February 12, 2025, at home. He was born in Montague August 8, 1952, the son of Joseph and Vivian (Sicard) Martin Sr. Bob attended local schools and graduated from Turners Falls High School Class of 1970. He was a meat cutter for the former Polish Co-op and Griffin’s IGA. Bob then went to work for C & S Wholesalers as a Quality Control Inspector.
After high school Bob played many years in the Montague Men’s softball league for St. Stan’s. Softball took a back seat to coaching Little League once Josh and Shawn started to play. He coached TFAC to several championships throughout the 1990’s! He enjoyed playing golf, especially in charity scramble tournaments. Bob was a member of St. Stan’s for many years wearing many hats at the club including being club President for many years. He also was a member of St. Kazimierz Society.
Bob leaves his sons; Joshua Martin and his wife Candaliza of Turners Falls and Shawn Martin of Millers Falls, his siblings; Jeanne Billiel of Millers Falls, Joseph Martin Jr. and his wife Martha, Christopher Martin and his good friend Mike Croteau all of Turners Falls. Bob also leaves his grandchildren; Michael Babcock, Bianca Martin, Jordyn Martin, Payton Martin and his great grandson, Tatum Kelli Murray-Lavin plus several nieces and nephews. 
Besides his parents he was predeceased his daughter Kelli Martin, his brothers, Michael J. Martin and Paul Martin and his sisters, Margaret Ellen Martin and Judith Bergeron.    
Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 19, 2025 at 6 PM at Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Calling hours will be from 4 PM until service time.
