Robert F. Hicks Obituary
Robert F. Hicks, 81, of Montague Street passed away peacefully on Friday 3/14/25 at home. He was born in Greenfield on April 11, 1943, the son of Myron and Edith (Henry) Hicks. Robert attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School. He continued his education at Greenfield Community College where he graduated with an associate's degree in engineering. He later attended Notre Dame College and received his bachelor's degree in business management.
Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving during Vietnam. He was very proud of being a part of the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines.
After serving in the military, he started his own company, Machine Design Technologies, that he managed for many years. He was an engineer at Montague Machine Company and later became an automation design engineer at New Hampshire Ball Bearing for 3O years before retiring.
In his early years, Robert enjoyed taking his model A ford for rides with his German Shepard and daughter Tammy. Playing guitar together was one of their favorite pastimes.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his wife, Linda and daughter Jennifer, always doing everything together as a family; one of their favorite things to do was travel to York Beach, Maine in the summer. He was an avid education enthusiast and taught his daughter Jennifer how to play piano.
In his later years, he enjoyed collecting and working on antique cars, and spending time with the family’s golden retriever, Jobe and his beloved orange tabby cat, Morris.
Among his survivors, Robert leaves two daughters, Jennifer C. (Hicks) Roman and her husband Israel, of Turners Falls, MA with whom Robert resided and Tammy Hicks and her partner Daniel Ellsworth of Winchester, NH; three grandchildren, Samantha-Lynn C. Roman of Turners Falls, Savannah Doleva of Georgetown, TX and Ryan Bonsignore of New Hampshire; two brothers, his twin, Richard Hicks of Troutman, NC and Thomas Hicks and his wife Penny of Sarasota, FL.
