Richard Duprey Obituary

Richard F. Duprey, 90, of Fairview St. died Monday, January 25, 2021 at home. He was born in Holyoke on April 9, 1930, the son of Frank and Nina (Manseau) Perreault. Richard graduated from Greenfield High School, class of 1948.
Richard served in the United States Navy during Korea, serving on the USS Bexar APT 237 and the USS Macon CA 132. He obtained the rank of MM3, completed the NOP engineers training program, and received China Service, United Nations, Good Conduct, Korean Service, and Navy Occupation commendations.
Richard worked for the Coca-Cola Company in Northampton, CD Davenport Trucking in Greenfield, Maxymillian Construction in Pittsfield, and Robbins Memorial Church in Greenfield.
Richard was an active, 50 year member of Robbins Memorial Church, serving on the Diaconate and on the Board of Trustees. He was integral to baking pies and maintaining the Robbins Church Apple Pie booth at the Franklin County Fair.
An avid gardener, Dick took pride in his large organic garden sharing his produce with family, friends and neighbors. He loved nature and the outdoors: a jogger, swimmer and fisherman. Always willing to put the needs of others before his own; he was a man of simple wants with a big heart who will leave his beloved family and friends with cherished memories.
In addition to his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Eleanor (Davenport) Duprey, Richard leaves two daughters, Lynne Allen of New Hampshire and Susan Duprey of California; four grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan, Matthew and Nathaniel Allen; twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his parents and his sister Joan (Duprey) Barry.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be considered at a later date. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
