Rian D. Graves, 68, of Lovers Lane died Thursday 9/12/24 at home.  He was born in Springfield, MA on November 10, 1955, the son of Lawrence and Sheila (Haselton) Graves.  
Rian graduated from Greenfield High School in 1974.  He served in the Army immediately after graduating. Rian was a Vietnam Vet., was stationed primarily in Germany, and then stateside at Ft. Dix.
Rian was a Police Officer for the Town of Bernardston and then the City of Greenfield until his retirement. 
Rian enjoyed traveling to the ocean and spending time in Boston with his family and friends. His interests included photography, classical music, scuba diving, and poetry, specifically Dante and Milton. Rian was known for sharing his life’s stories and was always a great source of entertainment. 
Besides his beloved wife of thirty seven years, Joanne (DeRusha) Graves, Rian leaves three children, Eliszabeth Pfeil, Markus Graves and Jenny Adams; his mother Sheila Graves; a sister, Barbara Gregory; a brother, William Chalmers; and eight grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday 10/5 at 11am at Blessed Trinity Parish, Blessed Sacrament Church, 221 Federal Street, Greenfield.  Burial will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Turners Falls. 
A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 9:00-10:30am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield.
