Rev. Albert Loreto Miltiadis Kurtgis 87, went home to our Lord and Savior on December 29, 2021, in Sparks, NV. He was born December 9th, 1934, in Boston and raised in Greenfield, MA to Carl J. and Irma M. Kurtgis.
He was a member of the Order of DeMolay, Greenfield. After graduating from Greenfield High School, he enlisted in the US Air Force on September 23rd, 1953, where he served as an Air Traffic Controller in Korea and Japan. He was honorably discharged after four years of service at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. He subsequently graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in Horticulture.
Albert became accomplished and well known as a Florist shop owner in Hollywood, FL and a convention commentator in the floral design industry. Albert enjoyed horseback riding and competed in the sport of Dressage. At midlife he was raised to the Priesthood of the Anglican Church in America and ministered in St. Cloud, FL.
Survivors are his wife Bettie, Sparks, NV, her three children, Shelly Pearman, Bill Regan, Jeff Regan; brothers Neal, Byron (Lisa), Michael (Mercy), Philip (Debbie) and a sister Claire Kurtgis-Hunter (Paul); five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother Carl J. Kurtgis (Dorothy) and a sister-in-law Beverly Kurtgis.
There will be a graveside gathering at Green River Cemetery, Greenfield on Monday April 4th, at 11:00.
