Pauline "Polly" Sicard Obituary

Gill------Pauline S. “Polly” (Blake) Sicard, 89, died peacefully Thursday (7-19-18) at Buckley Health Care Center.

She was born in Greenfield November 27, 1928 the daughter of George and Gladys (Holden) Blake.

She attended Greenfield Schools and was a graduate of Greenfield High School.

Polly had a bright yet gentle spirit and endured many hardships throughout her life. Yet, she always was able to maintain a smile and glowed the minute she walked into a room.

Her greatest achievement has always been her ‘family’.

Polly was a stay at home mom and was given the gift of love. Her brightest spot was her grandson Joseph Sulda whom she raised from the age of 2.

Later Pauline had a 33 + year career as a social/outreach worker and gave selfless service working for the Franklin County Home Care Corporation and FCAC. She served as the Montague COA Director, Housing Program Coordinator, and Home Sharing Program Coordinator, retiring in 2007. She also was the director of the Montague Senior Center for many years. Polly was the first “Manager” of the Winslow Wentworth Congregate House in Turners Falls.

She would go above and beyond her job description. Polly loved people and would always take the time to stop and talk with you to see how you are doing.

She loved gardening and her special pet cat “Patches”.

Polly leaves her daughter Diane of Gill, her grandson Joseph Sulda of Turners Falls and her great grandchildren Madilyn and Lucas Sulda. Her nieces Melissa Bliznak of Rockland, ME and Susan Bliznak of Gulfport, Fl., Patricia and Steven Bliznak of Guilford, Vt. and their children, Nicole Bliznak and partner Joe, and Eric Bliznak and his wife Ahola.  Polly also leaves her Goddaughter Kathleen (Holden) MacLeod and her family of Greenfield and Terry Sicard of Gill.

Polly is predeceased by her four children Linda Sulda, Susan Sicard, Maureen Sicard and Robert Sicard Jr.

The family would like to give special consideration and thanks to Patricia Bliznak for her unconditional support and love, and Molly Chambers, Polly’s long time loyal friend who looked forward to their Saturday visits. The family would also like to thank Buckley Healthcare Center, Hospice of Franklin County and Kostanski Funeral Home  for their loving and caring support.
