Pauline Guy Obituary

Pauline M. Guy, 93, of Turners Falls, beloved mother and wife, passed peacefully on Sunday April 30th 2023 at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst Ma. One of 8 children, Pauline was born April 11th 1930 in Montague City to Mary (Ackerman) and Edward Serrell. A lifelong resident of the Town of Montague, she grew up in Millers Falls, attended the local elementary school and Turners Falls High School. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Paul Guy, in 1948 she then resided in Turners Falls for the remainder of her life. Paul and Pauline worked together as a true team building their own home and raising their two daughters. Pauline’s biggest dream was for her girls to go on to college, which they both did.

Pauline was a dedicated and devoted wife and mother. Her family was her world. Holding many jobs over her lifetime, the job she loved most and retired from was being a shipping room supervisor at Bette Fog Nozzel. While at Bette Fog Nozzel she made many lifelong friends. Pauline was a hard worker and a great problem solver. She was an extremely talented seamstress and knitter and never disappointed her family with her creative mending skills. Along with her husband, Pauline was quite active with the Shriners and a member of the Daughter’s of the Nile. Together they enjoyed many Shriners travel adventures including Hawaii and Alaska. Pauline was always a willing travel companion and happily joined her daughter Fay-Jean on a trip to Australia. Pauline cherished the years of family RV vacations to Lake George, Hampton Beach, Cape May, and even across the country. Once retired, having everyone come and stay at their winter retirement home in Fort Myers Beach Florida was just the way it was. Taking her grandchildren to Disney several times was a pure joy for her.

Besides Paul, her husband of seventy-four years, Pauline leaves two daughters Fay-Jean Smith and her husband Ronald and Susan Guy-Greene, all of Greenfield; three granddaughters, Taffy Smith Ruggeri and her husband Joseph, Kelly Smith, and Megan Greene. She also leaves three great grandchildren, Sofia and Anthony Ruggeri and Evelyn Smith and several nieces and nephews.

Pauline was predeceased by her parents, siblings and her son-in-law, Dennis Greene (08’).
