Nancy E. Kirk, 78, passed away Friday July 25, 2025. She was born in Somerville on February 18, 1947, the daughter of Rev. Gordon J. and Doris E. (Marlatt) Kirk.

Nancy attended Eastern University in St. Davids, PA, for two years before beginning a working career that focused on human relationships in the workplace, working in customer service in the professional photography field for several years before spending nearly twenty years as an HR consultation for DDI International.

In addition to spending time with her nieces and nephews, Nancy was active in her local Baptist congregation wherever she lived, most recently Central Baptist Church of Lexington, KY, where she volunteered in the preparation and serving of weekday lunches and served as a deacon. After her retirement, she prepared, cooked, served, and helped to deliver Meals on Wheels in Lexington, KY.

In 2019 Nancy moved to western Massachusetts to be nearer to family. Shortly after arriving she was diagnosed with oral cancer and underwent surgery and radiation at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston that removed the cancer, allowing her to spend her remaining years enjoying being with her loved ones.

Nancy leaves her sister, Marilyn Paterno, of South Hadley; her nieces and nephews; Mary and Andrew Paterno of Greenfield MA, John and Jamie Paterno of Wilbraham MA, Jim and Angela Kirk of Versailles, KY, and Elizabeth Ely of Mesa AZ, along with several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her older brother, Rev. Richard Kirk, and another nephew, Michael S. Kirk.

A celebration and remembrance of Nancy’s life will be held by the family in the near future. Details will be posted online.
