Muriel Ruggles, 98, graduated to her next adventure on September 14, 2023. Born in Northampton, Mass, she was predeceased by her parents, John and Cora Warger and her husband, Stafford Ruggles.
Graduating with honors from Deerfield High School in 1943, and earning a two-year diploma from Northampton Commercial College, she began her career with Berkshire Gas in Greenfield. Subsequently, after marrying Stafford Ruggles in 1947 at the United Congregational Church of Conway and moving to Virginia Beach in 1954, she worked at the Fleet Materials Support Office at the Norfolk Naval Base until her retirement. She lived in Virginia Beach until 2020 when she re-located to South Deerfield. She always loved working in her yard and received many compliments about her beautiful lawn and flower gardens.
She is survived by her son Michael Ruggles, her grandchildren Andrew Ruggles of New Kingston, N.Y. and Allison Ruggles Lutz of Charleston S.C., and her great grandson Zander Lutz, sisters Corinne Laskey, Joyce Hume, and Joan Fehring, several loving nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their appreciation for the care given by the staff at the Linda Manor Extended Care Facility in Leeds, Mass.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 7, at 11 a.m. at the United Congregational Church of Conway.
