Megan E. Sliva Obituary

Megan E. Sliva Obituary

Courageous and determined to the end, Megan Elizabeth Sliva passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at the too young age of 43 following a five year battle with cancer, but her presence remains with all those who knew and loved her.

Beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Meg was born on May 6, 1981, the daughter of Leslie (Perry) Sliva and the late Steven Sliva.

Meg spent her early years in Greenfield before moving to Erving in 1990.  She was a proud graduate of Turners Falls High School Class of 1999, honored to be the Yearbook Editor for her class. Meg attended Worcester State College and enjoyed several jobs before finding her niche as an Assistant Manager with CVS, first in Naples, Florida and then in Greenfield.

Meg enjoyed living in Florida, but she was a New Englander at heart, and she was happy to return home to be closer to family and friends.

Meg was admired by her co-workers for her positive work ethic, mentoring supervision, true professionalism, and outstanding customer service.

More importantly, Meg was a dedicated, devoted, and loving mom to her wonderful daughter Ariel, who celebrated her 11th birthday just a few weeks before her mom’s passing. Ariel was Megan’s world, and she gave as much time and energy to Ariel as she could – roller skating, dancing, basketball, camping, movies, concerts, and family vacations to Hampton Beach and Old Orchard Beach.   There were also some memorable trips to Disneyworld and return trips to the Naples Florida area, plus a cruise or two!    Returning to Florida meant memorable reunions with her Florida cousins and other family members!

Meg was the go-to family member for anything to do with culture – politics, music, movies, television – she had the answer - and her opinion!

Meg was known for her sense of humor and her pragmatic view of the world.  She was a positive person – forward thinking, strong, determined, independent, brave, giving, supportive, and loving, always there for others.  Her strength was an inspiration to everyone who knew and loved her.

In addition to her mother and daughter, Megan is survived by her brother Michael of Erving who will forever miss his partner in crime, and a cadre of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Meg was predeceased by her Dad, her grandparents, her aunt Kathy Sakowicz, and her cousin Ryan Robinson Perry.

A funeral service will be held Friday August 2, 2024 at 12:30pm at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield.  Burial will follow at Erving Center Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 11am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
