Marilyn C. (Warsawski) Watroba, 89, of Montague died Thursday March 7, 2024 after a brief illness. She was born on April 20, 1934, the daughter of Paul and Stephanie (Dzeima) Warsawski.
Marilyn graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1951 and married Chester E. Watroba, her husband of 60 years. Together they welcomed 11 children over the next several years, all while building a successful grocery store, Watroba’s Market in North Amherst and a real estate business. Starting her own business in the 1970’s with American Saddlebred and Morgan show horses. Then finding her great passion within the Thoroughbred Industry, racing and breeding horses. She was a strong believer in her faith attending services regularly at the Newman Center in Amherst. Marilyn loved going to the Breeders Cup and other prominent races, trips to the casino with her aunts, playing the lottery, and most of all her extensive family that surrounded her.
Among her survivors, Marilyn leaves behind her sons Paul and his wife Shiela, Peter and his wife Kathleen, Robert and his wife Zonia. Daughters Stephanie, Hope and Marilyn and her husband Scott. A sister Frances McMurray, 25 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Paul and Stephanie Warsawski, her beloved husband Chester and 5 children, Nancy, John, Jeffrey, Chester Jr., and Todd.
Services for Marilyn will be held Thursday March 14, 2024 at 9:15 AM from the Kostanski Funeral Home 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday March 13, 2024 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
