Marilyn Baines Obituary

Marilyn Baines, 78, passed away Thursday 12/21/23 at Mission Care in Holyoke.  She was born in Springfield, MA on February 21, 1945, the daughter of Richard Baines and Elizabeth (Dunn) Slavin.    

Marilyn was a 1963 graduate of Sanders Academy in Plainfield, MA. 

 Marilyn was a personal chef.  

She enjoyed art and fashion drawing. Marilyn had a near encyclopedic knowledge of 1950s and early 60s popular music. She was a huge fan of Elvis Presley especially his gospel recordings. Marilyn was also an active supporter of the YWCA.  

Among her survivors, Marilyn leaves two brothers, William Slavin and Michael Slavin; nieces Melissa Wells, April Reiter, China Siegel, and Emily Hammerslough; nephews Robert Danckert and Ian Slavin; great- nephews Oliver Slavin and Greyson Reiter; and great-nieces Victoria Slavin and Eliana Seigel. 

Besides her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her stepmother, Barbara Baines and a stepsister, Ruth Wells Danckert. 

Funeral services are private.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
