Marie E. (Himmelsbach) Mroz

Marie (Himmelsbach) Mroz died April 27, 2022. She was 92 years old.  Marie was born to August and Irene L. (Fiekers) Himmelsbach in Northampton, MA. She graduated from Northampton High School in 1946, attended College of Mount St. Vincent in New York and graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital in 1951 as a Registered Nurse. Marie worked at the Veteran's Hospital in Leeds until 1952 when she married Vincent “Bill” A. Mroz and moved to Greenfield.  She was later employed at Baystate Franklin Medical Hospital in Greenfield, the office of Dr. P. Wadman, and that of Dr. R. McGinn until retirement in 1991.
Marie was a member of the SPCC for many years and volunteered at the Thrift Shop on Chapman Street and also at the Senior Craft and Gift Shop at Farren Care Center. She enjoyed making various crafts, sewing, knitting and playing tennis with friends. Marie liked to travel and, with her husband, was able to visit six other countries.  She was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church in Greenfield, now Our Lady of Peace in Turners Falls.
She is survived by her two children, Ralph Mroz (Barbara) of Greenfield, and Judith “Dee” Mroz (Anthony Copas) of Shrewsbury, a grandson, Nicholas Mroz (the joy of her life) of San Francisco, and many nieces, nephews, as well as grand and great-grand nieces/nephews.
She was predeceased in death by her husband of nearly 65 years, her parents, and two brothers, Dr. William A. Himmelsbach and Dr. Richard K. Himmelsbach.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. D. Thomas, Dr. J. McCann, Pioneer Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and all of Marie’s devoted caregivers from Comprehensive Home Care for their guidance, support, concern and compassion.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 14th, at 11:15 am from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St. in Greenfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street in Turners Falls. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Greenfield. 
Calling hours will be Friday, May 13th from 4-6 pm at the funeral home.
