Marie Louise (Benoni) Croteau, 89 of 5 Wrightson Avenue, Turners Falls, MA died Saturday August 23, 2025, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born at home in Conway, MA on March 2, 1936, the daughter of Placido and Florence (Caron) Benoni. Marie was a graduate of Arms Academy and then worked at the Franklin County Public Hospital where she became a Nurse's Aide. She met and later married Theodore Croteau, Jr, on November 26,1955 and they honeymooned at Niagara Falls, NY.

Marie worked at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center for many years. She enjoyed sewing for her family and friends, cooking, baking, her pets and doing crossword puzzles. Marie especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was member of the choir at St. Mary’s Church for many years.

Among her survivors, Marie leaves two sons, Steven and his wife Lana of Orange, CA and James and his wife Linda of Gill, MA; two daughters, Laura Head and her husband George of Brookfield, MO and Theresa Burakiewicz and her husband Peter of Northfield, MA; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, William Benoni and his wife Anne of So.Deerfield, MA, three sisters, Diane Benoni of Athol, MA, Gene Suits of CO and Anita Skaggs of NJ. 

A Liturgy of Christian burial will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 10:00am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA.  Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Turners Falls, MA.  

There will be no calling hours. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Viability INC, 101 Munson Street, Greenfield, MA., which supports individuals with disabilities.
