Margaret (Maggie) Stebbins, 85, of Silver Street died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Friday 7/9/21. She was born in Stafford Springs, CT on August 26, 1935, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Perry) Roberts. Maggie also deeply loved her Stepfather James Kimball.
She grew up in Wales, MA and by the time she was 12 years old had become an accomplished pianist. So good in fact, that her teacher quit her lessons, because she felt there was nothing more that she could teach Maggie.
Margaret went on to play organ for the Little Church on the Hill in Wales, where she attended, and at several youth group and school functions as well.
She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed doing crossword puzzles with her daughter Laurie and playing scrabble with her sister Kathaleen. Most important of all was spending time with her large immediate family and the many she opened her home and heart to.
Maggie worked in several administrative positions throughout her career until retiring from LightLife Foods in 2001
Among her survivors, Margaret leaves two sons, Kim Stebbins and his wife Kathryn of Greenfield and Jody Stebbins and his wife Susan of Hinsdale, NH; three daughters, Laurie Dickinson of Greenfield, Robin Szot of Peoria, AZ and Starr Hurd of Greenfield; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a niece who was like a daughter to her, Michelle Lalchandani of Westfield.
Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert E. Stebbins in 1992, her sister, Kathaleen Leveille, and her sons – in – law Bryan MacLeay and Ralph Szot.
A memorial service will be held Friday 7/16 at 12noon at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Burial will follow at Green River Cemetery in Greenfield.
A calling hour will be held Friday morning from 11am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
