Lorraine Boguslawski Obituary

Lorraine Dorothy (Nadeau) Boguslawski, 89, a native and longtime resident of Turners Falls, died peacefully on April 25, 2021, at the Center for Extended Care at Amherst (“CECAA”) following a long period of declining health.

She was born February 12, 1932 in Montague, the daughter of Omer and Grace (Gardner) Nadeau.  She attended local schools and graduated with the Turners Falls High School Class of 1949.  Before becoming a mother and homemaker, she worked in the office of the Turners Falls Coal Company.  She returned to the workforce after raising her family and was employed in the Turners Falls public school system at both the Hillcrest and the Sheffield Schools.

She was a devout Catholic, a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church and a member of its former Catholic Women’s Council.  She enjoyed attending Mass, visiting parishioners who were confined to a nursing home and helping out in the community meals program.  She also enjoyed her time spent at the Montague Senior Center, going out to eat, watching old movies and was a big fan of the New England Patriots.  However her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She was married to Henry Boguslawski on August 8, 1953 in the former St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Turners Falls.  Henry predeceased her on December 22, 1998 after 45 years of marriage.  In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her sisters Marjorie Hastings and Gloria Wojtkowski, and a granddaughter Kelly Boguslawski.

Lorraine is lovingly remembered by her four sons, David (Jane) of Naples, Florida, John (Nancy) of Bernardston, Edward (Janine) of Springfield, Vermont, and James (Heidi) of Rockledge, Florida, her daughter, Judith Routhier (Tom) of Westlake, Ohio, 14 grandchildren,  and 6 great-grandchildren.  She also leaves her sister Audrey Ambo of Clermont, Florida, several nieces and nephews, and her good friend since childhood, Francese Greenwood.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Monday (5-3-21) at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church with the Rev. Stanley J. Aksamit, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery in Turners Falls.  A calling hour will be from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.  At all services masks and social distancing will be required.

The family would like to express its thanks to the many people that contributed to her comfort and health over the years including Dr. Wayne Gavryck, and more recently, the caregivers and staff of CECAA, Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice and The Arbors of Greenfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA  01376. For condolences, please visit www.kostanskifuneralhome.com
