Lois A. (Batchelder) Phelps, 81, of Erving, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 1/1/2025, at Charlene Manor, where she had resided for the last year. She was born on September 4, 1943, in Conway, MA, the daughter of Edward and Vena (Sullivan) Batchelder. Lois attended local schools and graduated from Frontier High School.  

Lois was a school bus driver in Erving for many years before driving for the FRTA until her retirement. 

Lois adored her family and looked forward to the Annual Batchelder Reunion every year.  She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and going to the casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas where she played the slot machines and attended plays and concerts. Lois and her husband were also Florida snowbirds for twelve years and made many happy memories with close friends there. 

Lois was a proud member of the Arcana Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for over fifty years.

Besides her beloved husband of fifty-three years, John (Jack) Phelps, who visited her daily at the nursing home, Lois leaves two sons, Duane Semb and his wife Tara, and Erik Semb and his wife Tracy, with whom she resided for eight years before entering the nursing home.  She also leaves the “apple of her eye”, her granddaughter, Kimberlyn Semb, and two sisters, Joan Record and Sandy Isenhour, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Lois was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Janet Stacy. 

Lois’s family will honor her with a Celebration of Life, and the Order of the Eastern Star will provide a service. Her burial will be held at a later date. Please contact the family directly for further details.
