Kevin Scanlon died peacefully Monday 8/9/21 at home under the care of Hospice and his devoted daughter Erin Scanlon of Turners Falls. He was born in Salem, NH, the son of Joseph and Mary (Hall) Scanlon.
Kevin studied at Northern Essex Community College, The University of New Hampshire, and The University of Massachusetts obtaining degrees in Anthropology, Geology and Sedimentology.
He was an avid historian, collector, reader and always learning. He loved nature, carving and most of all his dog Homer. He was a Master Barber and held his pilot’s license and loved flying. He is a 37-year retired employee of Umass.
Kevin was extremely proud of the AA chapter he founded and ran in Wendell, MA. He was just as proud as the volunteer work he did with Good Neighbors in Wendell where he spent over 12 years.
He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Patricia (Laprel) Scanlon in 2015. He was predeceased by his second wife Patricia (Burt) Scanlon in 2019.
His survivors include his daughter Christine Douyard and her husband Bill of Shutesbury, MA, his son Glenn Scanlon of Greenfield, MA, and a daughter Jana Scanlon of Shutesbury, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Aden Boulanger, Jordan Scanlon, Emma Scanlon, Liam Boulanger, Kienan Scanlon, Owen Scanlon, Jason McGrath, and Regan Marshall. He also leaves behind 6 great-grandchildren, 6 beloved nieces and nephews as well as great niece and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by all.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday (8-17-21) at 11 AM Osgood Brook Cemetery in Wendell.
