Kevin E. Payette, 69, of Green River Road, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.
Kevin was born in Attleboro, MA on October 14, 1953, the fourth child of Calvin and Beverly (Brown) Payette. He grew up in Attleboro until his family moved to the Greenfield area where he graduated from Greenfield High School and continued his education at Greenfield Community College.
Kevin served in the United States Navy. He retired from White Mountain Cable Company as supervisor for aerial construction of fiber optic and coaxial cable.
On September 21, 1985, he married Janet Turnbull at Second Congregational Church, of which he was a member. Kevin enjoyed vacationing every summer on Cape Cod and going deep sea fishing, as well as vacationing in the Caribbean during the winter. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the New England Patriots, and the Boston Red Sox at Fenway. He liked to fish, hunt, read, garden, ride his 1968 BSA motorcycle, and spend time with his family and friends. He always had his dog and faithful companion with him.
His greatest pride and joy was his daughter Lindsay. For the past twenty months, he was most happy spending time with his grandson Lincoln, reading to him, playing with him and watching him grow.
Kevin leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Janet Turnbull; his daughter Lindsay and son-in-law Andy Lesenski of Northfield; grandson Lincoln Lesenski of Northfield; four brothers, Steven of Casco, Maine, Glenn, Wayne, and Jason of Greenfield; three sisters, Diane Payette of Conway, Donna James of Colrain, and Amy Shrock of FL, along with sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nephews and nieces.
No services are planned at this time. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. He will be laid to rest at South Cemetery in Leyden.
In honor of his love for animals, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter, 10 Sandy Lane, Turners Falls, MA 01376.
