Juanita Caldwell Obituary

Juanita Ann "Bunny" Caldwell of Montague, MA passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 30th, 1938 in North Andover, MA, the daughter of Phillip and Mattie Koshinsky. Bunny attended the Powers Institute in Bernardston, MA.
In 1959 she married Richard "Dickie" Phillips and moved to upper New York State where she had three sons.
She received her bachelor's degree from Empire State College of NY.
Bunny retired from her position as the Director of the Montague Senior Center. Prior to that she worked as an advocate with elder protective services in NY and MA. She also worked for the Orange County NY, cooperative extension. She owned and operated Harpers Package Store in Greenfield, MA for 4 years in the 1990's.
Bunny belonged to the Emblem Club & the Red Hat Society. She served on the Board of Directors for the Montague Council on Aging, Lifepath's Citizens Advisory Board and helped counting votes for the town of Montague.
She loved the Red Sox, "cousins' lunch", playing pitch "go big dogs" and playing 5 crown at the Senior Center. She was always crocheting rugs and knitting hats. She also enjoyed travel, tag sales, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Montague.
Bunny is survived by her loving husband, Richard F. Caldwell of Montague; her son Gregory Phillips and wife Nancy and grandsons Mackenzie, Hunter and Travis, all of Montgomery, NY; her son, Martin Grant Phillips and wife Linda and grandsons Campbell Grant and James of New York, NY; her son Geoffrey Phillips and his wife Jennifer and grandson Bennet "Bean" of Winchester, NH; and two stepdaughters Teresa A. Caldwell of Shelburne Falls and Diane M. Alcorn of Worcester MA.
Bunny is predeceased by her parents; her first husband and her brother Richard Koshinsky of Turners Falls.
Funeral services will be held Friday 12/28 at 10am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Burial will follow at the Green River Cemetery in Greenfield. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life gathering following the services at the cemetery at the First Congregational Church of Montague.
A calling hour will be held Friday morning from 9am until the time of the service.
