Jonathon R. Smith

It is with great sadness that the family of Jonathon R. Smith announces his passing on August 24, 2023, with his family by his side at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA at the age of 21, due to complications of epilepsy. 
Jonathon was born in Greenfield on September 16, 2001 to Neil and Christina (MacLeay) Smith.  He was a graduate of Mohawk Trail Regional High School, Class of 2020.
He was predeceased by both his paternal and maternal grandparents, Neil and Adeline Smith and Robert and Ruth MacLeay and an uncle, Bryan S. MacLeay. 
Jonathon will be greatly missed by his parents Neil and Christina Smith of Greenfield; brothers Jacob Smith of Belchertown and Bryan and Jackson Smith of Greenfield; grammy Janice MacLeay of Turners Falls; his loving girlfriend Lexxie Perkins of Northfield; and his kitties Chunky and Georgia.  He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends. 
Jon had a smile that could light up any room he entered or that smirk you knew he was up to something.  He was always up for an adventure when it involved the outdoors whether it was target shooting, building or riding bicycles, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, snowboarding, fishing or swimming at his favorite spots and going to the skatepark.  He also loved to cook and barbecue for everyone especially his family.  His music was always on. 
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
