John Michael Watroba of Turners Falls passed away on Tuesday April 13, 2021 at the age of 65. He was born in Greenfield to Chester and Marilyn (Warsawski) Watroba on August 14, 1955. John attended local schools in Montague and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School, class of 1973. During high school, John excelled at basketball, assisting the team in winning the Western Mass Championship.
John worked at the Greenfield Tap & Die as a thread grinder from the late 70s into the 90s. He briefly was employed at the Lunt Silversmith Company in Greenfield before joining the J & L Tree Service Company, working there for quite a few years.
He was an avid fisherman of Lake Wyola and Cranberry Pond, among other spots. John enjoyed stamp collecting, radio programs, Red Sox games and of course the lottery. Though he had high hopes of figuring out the lottery, it never panned out to be the big winner.
Among his survivors, John leaves a daughter, Jamiee Watroba and her fiancé Justin of Turners Falls; his mother, Marilyn Watroba of Montague; his brothers and sisters, Paul, Peter, Robert, Nancy, Marilyn, Stephanie and Hope; and countless nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his father, Chester E. Watroba, Sr. and three brothers, Chester Jr., Todd and Jeffrey Watroba.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Regional Dog Shelter, 10 Sandy Lane, Turners Falls, MA 01376.
