John H. Stevens, Jr., 69, of Main Road died Monday 4/22/24 at home. He was born in Greenfield on December 9, 1954, one of nine children of John H. and Evelyn (Bassett) Stevens.
John worked as a papermaker at the Esleeck Paper Mill for many years. Before his retirement, he was employed at the Pelican Company.
He was a life member of the Mohawk Ramblers and a member of St. Stan’s and St. Kaz in Turners Falls. John enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, cards and shuffleboard. He most loved spending time with family and friends.
John was predeceased by his parents, John and Evelyn and two sisters, Nancy and Joanne.
Besides his loving wife of forty three years, Gail (Stone) Stevens, John leaves a daughter, Sarah Stevens and her partner Jason Brooks of Belchertown and their daughter, Alexandra Brooks; a son, Dalton Stevens; three sisters, Linda Carey and her husband John, Helen Doolittle and her husband Pete and Mary Lenois and her husband Tommy; three brothers, Reggie Stevens, Butchie Stevens and his wife Tammy and Mark Stevens and his wife Carol; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Calling hours will be held Friday 4/26 from 4-6pm at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
