John F. Sayers, Jr.

John F. Sayers, Jr., 77, of Hope Street died Saturday 11/12/22 at home.  He was born in Springfield on April 15, 1945, the son of John F. Sr. and Anna (Scott) Sayers. 

John attended local schools in Springfield and continued his education at Greenfield Community College. 

John served in the United States Navy.  After his honorable discharge, John moved to Greenfield and attended Greenfield Community College.  He then attended the Police Academy. 

John was a patrolman for the Greenfield Police Department for twenty-one years before his retirement.

He was commander on and off for the American Legion for eighteen years.

Among his survivors, John leaves a son, John F. Sayers III and his wife Kara of Greenfield; a stepson, Walter White, Jr. and his wife Jessica of Greenfield; a daughter, Kelly Cormier of Florida; five grandchildren, Kelly, Johnathan and Ethan Sayers and Kyle and Joseph White; and a sister, Mary Ann Sayers of Jamacia Plains, MA.

Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 4-6pm at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. 

Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
