Joe (Manny) Flores Obituary

Joe Manuel Flores (Manny), of Wareham, MA, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully in his home on August 6th, 2021 surrounded by his family. Manny was born June 13, 1937 to his wonderful parents Salvador and Julieta Flores in El Paso, TX who preceded him in death. He moved to Los Angeles, California at 5 years old and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954. Afterwards, he worked for Safeway as a produce manager and later went on to become an exceptional graphic designer.

Manny was previously married to Beatrice Flores and they had 5 children together. He later married Micki Flores and they had two children together. He retired at the age of 62 and devoted his time to being a stay at home dad and helping with the care of his father in law until his passing which inspired him to become a hospice volunteer, a role he truly loved. Manny was a devoted Catholic, who volunteered his time to help with his local church, Our Lady of Peace, in Turners Falls MA and designed their weekly bulletins. Manny was a kind, compassionate, patient, and generous man who was always considerate about the wellbeing of his family and his community. He enjoyed the great outdoors, swimming, graphic designing, making others laugh, and taking his family on car rides listening to music. Manny was an avid music lover and instilled that love to all of his 7 children. He was also a diehard Dodgers (since their Brooklyn days), Patriots, and Lakers fan.

Manny is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 41 years, Micki (Urban) Flores; two sisters: Martha Alonzo of Monterey Park, CA, Julie Ballester of San Francisco, CA and sister-in-law Julie Urban of Anaheim, CA; his children: Danny (Maria) Flores of West Covina, CA, Laurie (Ken) Halet of Monrovia, CA, Nick (Kaye)Flores of Pasadena, CA, David (Cindy) Flores of Boulder, CO, Diane (Bob) Duffy of Paso Robles, CA, and Mary Flores of Quincy, MA. He is preceded in death by his son Michael Flores. He is also survived by his grandchildren Erin Halet of Long Beach, CA, Derek Halet of Pasadena, CA, Jonathan Flores of West Covina, CA, Mark (Katelin) Flores (Katelin)of Chino, CA, Nina Flores of Los Angeles, and Elena Flores of Pasadena, CA. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout California, Massachusetts, and Texas, as well as his lifelong friends/brothers, Richard Jimenez and Armando Ramirez and his beloved four-legged buddy, Bruschi.

We are grateful for each day we got to see Manny’s beautiful smile, to enjoy the love and warmth he gave to all unconditionally, his wisdom, and his wonderful sense of humor. He will be forever loved and missed and will be forever in our hearts.
