Joanne Mayrand, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Greenfield, MA on February 2, 1943, the daughter of the late Edward and Margarite (Spinelli) Letourneau. She graduated from Greenfield High School in the class of 1961. She was a member of the twirling squad and other school activities. In recent years she headed the class reunion committee of 1961, working tirelessly to keep in touch with class members. She was a member of the Moose Club, Red Hat Club and the Mohawk Rambling Campers.
She is survived by her husband, the love of her life, James Mayrand, Sr., married just shy of 63 years. Joanne leaves three children, James Mayrand Jr. (Theresa) of South Deerfield, MA, Judith Mayrand of San Antonio, TX, and Joseph Mayrand (Caryl) of Montague City, MA. She is survived by three grandsons, Luke, Tyler, and Troy, whom she loved and talked about constantly. She also is survived by her sister-in-law, Susan Corey, nieces, Nicolene and Samantha, and nephews, Jason and Casey, and her lifelong dear friend, June Malenfant.
Joanne loved her family, vacations, camping, and opening her home to her children’s friends for swimming parties and other activities. She headed the polls’ committee in Turners Falls for several years. She also shared her crafts at many craft shows over the years. She was so talented. She also made spectacular wedding and all-occasion cakes over the years. She had a generous and loving spirit.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her infant brother, Albert and her brother, Eddie, who died in Vietnam.
A private family service will be held in the Spring, per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Regional Dog Shelter, 10 Sandy Lane, Turners Falls, MA 01376.
