Jessica S. Edson Obituary

Jessica Starsong Edson peacefully slipped away October 3, 2024. She was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her, bringing laughter, joy and a radiant smile wherever she went.
Jessica was born February 28, 1984, in Gill, Massachusetts. She attended Gill Elementary and Turners Falls High School, graduating in 2002. Jessica started riding horseback at age 6 at Stoney B Acres in Bernardston, MA where she became a member of the 4-H club and rode, worked and taught through her high school years. She worked at the People’s Pint in Greenfield before moving to Kentucky to train horses and teach horseback riding under the watchful eye of Francois Lemaire de Ruffieu, member of the famous Cadre Noire in France and certified Master Instructor of the American Riding Instructor’s Association. Jessica had the privilege of traveling in Europe with Francois on several occasions to horseback riding competitions and schooling stables. Her horse adventures with Francois were one of the highlights of her life.
Upon returning from Kentucky Jessica resided in Northfield, MA, worked at DiPaolo’s Restaurant in Turners Falls and attended Greenfield Community College where she earned her associate’s degree. She then went to the Isenburg School of Management at UMASS where she received her bachelor’s degree in business.
A few years later, Jessica was accepted in the Accelerated Wine and Beverage Program at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in St Helena, CA graduating in May 2014 as a sommelier. That same month she was hired at The Restaurant at Meadowood in St Helena where she worked her way to the position of Captain. Moving to LA, Jessica was hired in August 2015 at Otium as a sommelier. The city life of LA did not suit her, and she returned to St Helena in June 2016 and was hired by Tuck Beckstoffer Wines where she was Director of Hospitality for four years.
Missing her family and friends in Massachusetts, Jessica moved back to Gill in 2021. She last worked from September 2021 to September 2022 as Brand Ambassador and Sales Director for Simon Family Estate.
Jessica had a passion for horses, the mystique of wine and traveling, but her greatest passion was for her family, friends and her beloved dog Grommet. She was a deep listener, a bearer of spiritual wisdom, a kind and loyal friend and a sweet, caring daughter. Words cannot express how much she is missed.
Jessica leaves her parents, Doug and Debbie Edson of Gill, her brothers: Daniel Edson and his wife Sarah and their children, Maya and Ari of Burlington, VT, and Corwin Edson of Northfield, MA. She was predeceased by her sister, Jasmin Edson, June 12, 2003. She also leaves her beloved uncle, Stephen Greenwald, his daughter, Devon, and her daughter, Alden.
A Celebration of Life will be held November 2, 2024, at 1PM at The Barn (next to the Farm Table) in Bernardston, MA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice or by committing any act of kindness. Jessica just wanted to make the world a better place by bringing light, love and joy wherever she went.
