Jeannette "Tootsie" J. (Chevalier) Wallace Obituary

Jeannette “Tootsie” J. Wallace, 84, passed Wednesday 10/9/24 at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.  She was born in Montague on August 17, 1940, the daughter of Elphage and Evelyn (Koch) Chevalier.  Tootsie attended local schools and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1958.

Tootsie was a record keeper for Dr.Dickey’s office for many years.  Prior to that she was a teacher’s aide for the Greenfield Public Schools and was also employed a Kaiser Permanente.

Tootsie was a Woman of the Moose member for over forty years, where she enjoyed dancing.  She was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors including camping, canoeing and hiking. She enjoyed listening to music and her daily trips to Dunkin Donuts with her friend, Ben.  Tootsie loved vacationing in Maine, her animals and most of all, her family.

Among her survivors, Tootsie leaves her daughter, Kelly Wallace (Len Adams) of Greenfield; her son, Jason Wallace (Joanne) of Gill; two grandchildren, Julia and Jake of Gill; her sister, Rene Flanagan (John) of Merrimack, NH; sisters in law, Carol Moltenbrey of Turners Falls and Margo “Maggie” Vidrine of Gill; a brother in law, Russell Webster of Florida; her daily companion/best friend, Benjamin “Ben” Laplante of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Tootsie was predeceased by her beloved husband of fifty five years, Bruce D. Wallace on June 22, 2017; her son, Michael D. Wallace on January 6, 2013; her siblings, Peter and Paul Chevalier and Marie Burdick; sisters in law, Pamela Kemp, Sheila Pelletier and Joan Webster; and brothers in law, Carl Pelletier and Stephen Moltenbrey.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday November 2, 2024 at 2pm at the Loyal Order of the Moose, 20 School Street, Greenfield. 

There will be no calling hours.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
