Jeannette Sikora Obituary

"Heaven just got a little more crowded."
Jeannette L. Sikora, 96, of Turners Falls died Saturday, March 2, 2024 at RegalCare in Greenfield.   She was born in Northampton November 26, 1927, to Valerien and Leah (LeBeau) Chagnon and lived her whole life in Turners Falls on Coolidge Ave., Montague Rd., Hillside Rd., and Fairway Ave. having graduated from TFHS in 1945.    She was employed by the Montague Machine Co. for 33 years until her retirement in 1990.
Jeannette was married to Henry P. Sikora in 1947 for 53 years who predeceased her in 2000.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Paul and his wife Gail (Letourneau) of Doylestown, PA, and son David and his wife Jeanne (Fugere) of Middlebury, CT. and additionally four grandchildren, Peter Sikora of Chester Springs, PA., Amanda Sikora Johnson of San Diego,  Alison (Sikora) Heller of Boulder, CO, and Annie (Sikora) Bertoli of Santa Barbara, CA. and six great grandchildren, Austin in PA, Kora in San Diego, Leo and Flora in CA, and Penny and Jack in CO.
She is survived by her two sisters, Helen Pearson of Greenfield and A. Jean Pelletier of New Hampshire, and was predeceased by her youngest sibling, Robert (Donald) Chagnon of Florida.
Jeannette was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church (formerly St. Mary’s Church) and a longtime member of its Catholic Woman’s Council.   She enjoyed volunteering and was active in visiting nursing home residents, ironically at the very nursing home (RegalCare, formerly Buckley) where she spent her final days.  Another satisfying volunteer activity included working at the Baystate Franklin gift shop such that she would see and greet many friends passing through the halls at the corridor “crossroads”.
Jeannette was an avid cat lover having them as pets essentially her whole life thereby always keeping her warm company.   She was an active member of the Roaming Red Hatters, and a voracious reader of Danielle Steel novels, and always ready for a fun game of Scrabble with her sister and friends, not to mention going parasailing at age 84 in the Caribbean!   Her iPad kept her connected to the outside world via email, new recipes, and Facebook with friends and with grand and great grandchildren.   Being a proficient counter cross-stitcher, her memory will live on by the various pieces she made and gave away.
