Janet E. (Burkill) Robert, 76, of Federal St., passed away Friday, August 8, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She courageously fought for over a decade, battling Parkinson’s disease and several other health issues.
She was born in Greenfield, MA, on January 7, 1949, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred (Harris) Burkill. Jan was raised in Greenfield, attended local schools, and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1967. She went on to earn an Associate Degree in Office Administration from Greenfield Community College. She spent the last several years of her professional career at Greenfield Community College, working in health services until her retirement in 2011.
She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, baking, trips to the casino, crafting, and spending as much time as she could with her beloved family and friends. Jan gave so much of herself, and somehow always had more to give. Her warmth, kindness, and selflessness touched every life she crossed.
Jan leaves her husband, David, of 29 years; her daughters, Laurie Wells and her husband, Justin, of Greenfield, and Nancy Blessing of Pittsfield. She also leaves five grandchildren: Nicholas, McKenna, and Mitchell Wells; and Megan and Ryan Blessing. In addition, she is survived by her great-grandson, as well as her brother, Richard Burkill, and his wife, Terry, of Greenfield, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Mildred Burkill.
Calling hours will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, from 4–6 PM at Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St.,Greenfield. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
