Jane Elizabeth (Stebbins) Dion Obituary
Jane Elizabeth (Stebbins) Dion, 65, of Park Villa Apartments, passed peacefully at home from this life to the next, on Wednesday June 25, 2025, after years of failing health and living courageously with her many illnesses. Jane was surrounded by her loving family who find solace in knowing she is no longer suffering in any way, and that she is now in the arms of the Lord and family members who have gone before her.
She was born in Greenfield MA, August 14, 1959, the daughter of Wallace and Christine (Haeussler) Stebbins. Jane was the youngest of five children. Jane grew up in Millers Falls, attending Highland Elementary School, and graduated from Turners Falls High School, Class of 1977. She worked as a machine operator for Judd Wire for 24 years, retiring in 2008, working most recently in the Cable Twist Department. Previously, Jane worked at Mount Hermon School with the Meals on Wheels program, Wesco Electric Components and for a short time ORMCO in Azuza, CA when she had traveled there to be near her dear friend Sandy.
She married Michael P. Dion on May 22, 1987. Sadly, he passed away in 2019.
Growing up Jane enjoyed family vacations to the beach in Connecticut, later vacationing in Ogunquit, Maine with extended family and loved traveling to Aruba with her husband Mike. Over the years Jane had three labradors, Libby, Maggie and Snowball who she loved to walk around the block. She enjoyed playing cribbage, dice games, Yahtzee and various games on her computer. During her final years Jane enjoyed watching Scorpion, the Game Show Network and the Boston Red Sox.
Jane is survived by her siblings; William Stebbins and his wife Brenda of Shelby, NC, Barbara Peters and her husband Ron of Erving, Robert Stebbins and his wife Susan of Gorham, ME, and Susan McCarthy and her husband Kevin of Millers Falls, and her children; Michael Dion Jr. and his wife Heather of Turners Falls, Sarah Drier and her husband Dan of Clarksville, TN, her grandchildren; Cody and Lucas Drier, Bryce Dion, Felicia, Ricky and Andy Craver plus several nieces, nephews, cousins, several brother and sister-in-laws and friends. Jane also leaves her best friend Sandy Konvelski who loved cooking for her and spending precious time together playing games and reminiscing about their many fun, shared memories.
Jane's family would like to thank her incredible Caregivers who loved her dearly and treated her with compassion; her daughter-in-law Heather Dion, her best friend Sandy Konvelski, Deb Miller and Tabitha Chapin. You all made it possible to have our Janie remain at home surrounded by constant love. Her sisters Barbara and Susan, who were also her caregivers, will always cherish the renewed, close relationship that ensued with Jane during these years of caring for her. We would also like to thank Pioneer Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, LifePath, Overlook VNA and her many Doctors and Nurses throughout the years who treated her with exceptional care and kindness.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday July 12, 2025, at 10 AM at the Covenant Church, 19 Bridge St, Millers Falls. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
