James F. Ptak, Sr.

James F. Ptak, Sr., 76, of 9 Davis Street died peacefully at the home of his daughter/caregiver on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
He was born in Montague on August 25, 1945, the son of Jacob and Regina (Brostek) Ptak. 
Jim attended local schools in Montague and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School, Class of 1963.
Jim was a proud veteran that served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, being honorably discharged on June27, 1968.
He was a welder/pipefitter for the Local Union 104 out of Chicopee for his whole career until his retirement.
Jim enjoyed watching sports and was a big Red Sox, Patriots and NASCAR fan. He always liked the time spent fishing and hunting in the early years with his father and cherished the time later in life doing the same thing with his son.
Many knew Jim through his involvement in the local clubs. He was a longtime member of The Turners Falls Schuetzen Verein, St. Kazimier Society, St. Stanislaus Society and Montague Elks Lodge.
Besides his beloved wife of fifty four years, Catherine (Denkewicz) Ptak, Jim leaves a daughter, Pamela Ptak-Interlande and her husband Ryan of Turners Falls; a son James F. Ptak, Jr. and his wife Jillian of Bradenton, FL; a granddaughter Jade Ptak (his little sweet pea); and several nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents and sister Carole Talbot. He will be greatly missed by all.
A graveside service will be held Friday 12/3 at 11:15am at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Turners Falls.
