James Mansfield Obituary

James V. Mansfield, Sr, 65, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022 after a tremendously difficult battle with Cancer at the Greenfield Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 4th, 1956, the son of Howard and Hilda Mansfield. James was a graduate of Mount Abraham High School in Bristol VT, class of 1975.
On May 10th 1980, James married the love of his life, Linda. They showed their children and grandchildren what true love means, and were role models for how a marriage should be. They were married for 39 years before Linda sadly passed away.
He was a Computer Analyst for many years, working for both Vermont Natural Gas, and Connecticut Natural Gas companies. After his first heart attack in 1993, he “slowed down” by becoming a newspaper carrier for 27 years for the Recorder, Gazette and Republican all throughout Franklin County, and as a courier driver delivering all over the east coast.
James was the strongest man his family ever knew. Battling many illnesses over his life, and always doing it with a joke and a smile! He also was extremely proud of his many tattoos. He would show them off to everyone and anyone!
One of his biggest passions was selling items on eBay and other online sites. His phone would constantly ding with notifications for items he had sold! One of the items he will be most remembered for are his Captain Morgan t-shirts!
James absolutely loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and dogs; Max and Brutus. He enjoyed traveling, camping trips, playing board games with his grandsons (especially chess,) and trying new foods and restaurants. He never turned down a home cooked meal from his children!
James leaves behind his four children, Sarah and her husband Benjamin Coulsey of Greenfield, James Jr and his wife Marisa Mansfield of Monroe Wisconsin, Erin Greene of Greenfield and Ashley and her husband William Duggan of Agawam; grandchildren, Benjamin Jr. and Douglas Coulsey; Allison, Charlotte and Derek Duggan; James Mansfield III; and Kristopher Therrien.
James was predeceased by his wife and his parents.
A funeral service will be held Friday June 3rd at 10am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield.  Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in South Deerfield.
