James Chabot Obituary

James E. Chabot, 38, a beloved father, son and brother passed away unexpectedly at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton. He was born in Greenfield on January 7, 1985, the son of Don and Patricia (Merrigan) Chabot.  Jim attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School, Class of 2003.  He continued his education attending Greenfield Community College.

Jim served in the United States Air Force ANG at Barnes Air Force Base in Westfield from 2004 until 2006.

Most recently, Jim was employed at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Hospital in Leeds as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant.

Jim enjoyed golfing, hanging out with George and Chris, hiking and spending time with his girlfriend, Meaghan.  Most of all, Jim was an incredible father to his daughter, Kaelynn.  She was his pride and joy and proudest accomplishment of his life.  You could find him supporting her throughout her dancing and sporting ventures and always bragging of what a wonderful young woman she is becoming.  Kaelynn was Jim’s world and he will forever watch over her and be with her in every moment.

Besides his beautiful daughter, Kaelynn Chabot, Jim leaves his father, Don Chabot of Greenfield; his sister, Jessica L. Ray and her husband Todd and their children, William and Alexandra; his brother, Thomas Chabot and his wife Allyson and their children Justin and Noah; his girlfriend, Meaghan Lumbis Breed and her son, Noah; and his ex wife and best friend, Samantha Barton.

Jim was predeceased by his mother, Patricia “Patty” Merrigan on October 11, 2011 and an infant sister, Emily Chabot.

Jim, you will always be remembered and always be loved.

The family would like to commend the heroic efforts of the first responders and health care team who tried their best to save Jim’s life.

There will be no formal funeral services.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday 4/5 from 5-7pm at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kaelynn Chabot Education Fund, c/o Greenfield Savings Bank, 400 Main Street, Greenfield, MA 01301.
