James W. Bellany, son of Sarah Clanny and John Bellany, died on March 30, 2022 at Buckley Health Care in Greenfield at the age of ninety-five. He was born on May 23, 1926.
He leaves his widow, Carolyn Reum Bellany. They were married on October 18, 1975. He and Carolyn were very happily married for almost forty-seven years and were each other’s best friends and were true soul mates.
Jim graduated from Springfield Technical High School and attended the University of Maine. He was a World War Two Purple Heart Veteran.
He leaves his daughter Christine DiLeo (Anthony) of Westford, his daughter Angela Bellany Bristol (Alan) of Greenfield, and his son Christopher Bellany of Turners Falls. He also leaves his grandchildren Andrew and Kaleigh DeMello and Brianna and Ryan Bristol, all of Greenfield and his grandson Caleb Bristol. Jim leaves his grandsons, Michael DiLeo (Keri), Gregory (Alexis), and Matthew (Cassandra). He leaves six great-grandchildren. He leaves his sister-in-law Patti Reum of Virginia. He leaves his niece Sarah Swain (Thomas) of Southwick. Jim was predeceased by his son Paul and his sister Ruth Garberg. Jim also leaves many close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 1 at the United Church of Bernardston at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Neal officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Appalachian Mountain Club of Russell or Shriners Hospital.
