Ingrid Chartier, 83, of Huntington Circle passed into eternal rest on Monday May 30, 2022 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a long struggle with respiratory illness. She was born in Duisburg, Germany on November 5, 1938, the daughter of Hugo and Maria (Koenig) Lemgen. Ingrid attended schools in Germany, graduated from a trade school and completed an apprenticeship to achieve a certification in photography science.
Ingrid came to the United States in the 1960s, residing first in New York City before settling in Greenfield. She had a distinguished business career, serving for more than 30 years as production manager at Hallmark Color Labs in Turners Falls.
On August 15, 1982, Ingrid married her beloved husband Leo H. Chartier. The couple enjoyed world travel, skiing at Berkshire East, and entertaining friends by hosting house parties. Always stylishly attired, Ingrid and Leo enjoyed Greenfield’s night-life and could frequently be found in the evenings enjoying a cocktail at Brickers.
In addition to her loving husband, Leo, Ingrid leaves a sister, Ellen DeWitte of Xanten, Germany; a nephew, Frank DeWitte of Wesel, Germany; and a step son, Bruce A. Chartier of Chicopee, MA.
