Herman "Mike" M. Podlenski Obituary

Herman Michael Podlenski, Jr. "Mike" "POD" of Greenfield, MA crossed to Infinite Spirit with his beloved wife of 49 years, Wendy, by his side on January 16, 2025 after a brief but terrible series of medical complications.
Born on April 9, 1955 in Montague, MA to Herman Sr. and Helen Podlenski, he was the cherished final piece to complete their beautiful family.  He will live forever in the hearts of his sisters: Susan and her husband Mike Hastings of Turners Falls and Lorraine and her husband Jerry Mazur of New Kensington, PA.
Mike was a graduate of Turners Falls High School, Class of 1973.  He embraced the high school experience: playing football in the position of tackle all 4 years, belonging to the T-Club and the Ski Club and making lifelong friends.
Shortly after marrying, Mike and Wendy began a year-long cross country journey.  The first of countless adventures together exploring and enjoying the world, especially the out of doors.
Eschewing a typical career path, Mike’s entrepreneurial spirit and drive led him to a variety of occupations. In all of them, he strove to find purpose and enjoyment.
Although no role compared to his most prized title: PAPA!  Dylan Michael & Desiree Rose were the lights of his life.  Playing and reading together became his favorite activities.
Mike fully embraced being a dad, which brought much delight and love into his life.
Mike’s first born, Ami, will continue to cherish their father’s loving spirit and his wise guidance on life’s path.  His daughter, Joy, is eternally grateful for the world he gave her and the blessing of knowing pure love that led to marrying Ben Whitbeck and welcoming their children.
Numerous adored nephews and nieces will miss Uncle Mike and his shared love of life.
Mike was involved in multiple fraternal, philanthropic, and social organizations over the years; all of which enriched his life and were lucky to have such a dedicated member.
Mike rode motorcycles his entire life and attended many events and gatherings including riding to Bike Week in Laconia NH for 43 years in a row.
Mike’s love and enjoyment of music spanned his lifetime, playing guitar and other instruments, and finding comradery at live music events close to home and all over the country.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday 1/21/2025 from 4-6pm at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.
A Mass in his memory will be said Wednesday 1/22/25 at 10am Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls.  Burial will be private.
